"When families are supported, children thrive."
Becoming Kin exists to walk alongside foster and adoptive families—not as experts with all the answers, but as community. We believe that when families are supported, children thrive. Through events, resources, and real relationships, we're building a network of people who show up for each other.
What We Do
Building Stronger Families Together
Community Events
Regular gatherings where foster and adoptive families can connect, share stories, and build lasting friendships in a welcoming, judgment-free space.
Family Support
Practical resources and emotional support for every stage of the foster and adoptive journey—from the first phone call to the years that follow.
Volunteer Network
A growing network of people who each bring something different. Volunteers show up for meal trains, errands, and events. Social workers share insight that keeps us grounded in real family needs. And local businesses donate goods and services that make a tangible difference.
About Us
About Becoming Kin
Built by a foster and adoptive family, for foster and adoptive families.
Our Story
How It All Started
Becoming Kin started with a simple belief: no family should navigate foster care or adoption alone. Founded by Hogan Wagner—a Board Certified Behavior Analyst, entrepreneur, and someone who has seen firsthand how much families need real community around them—Becoming Kin grew out of lived experience with both the beauty and the difficulty of building a family through the system.
We know what it's like to need someone in your corner. That's why we're building a community where families can find real support, honest conversation, and people who understand the journey.
What We Stand For
Our Values
Authenticity
We show up as we are—imperfect, honest, and real. There's no room for pretending here. We believe vulnerability is the foundation of genuine connection.
Community
Families thrive when they're surrounded by people who understand. We're building a network of support that lasts—not a program, but a community.
Belonging
Every child deserves a family, and every family deserves a place to belong. We're creating that place—for kids, parents, and everyone in between.

How We Support Families
Practical help, genuine community, and resources designed for the real challenges foster and adoptive families face.
How It Works
Needs Met. Families Served.
Social workers and case managers share what foster and adoptive families need most — a meal, a celebration, a supply run, or simply a helping hand. Becoming Kin takes that information and coordinates volunteers who design and deliver projects tailored to those exact needs. The result is real, practical support that reaches families at the right moment.
Community Events
From family picnics to parent nights out, our events are designed to help foster and adoptive families connect with others who truly understand. No agenda—just genuine connection and a chance to be yourself.
Resource Library
Curated guides, articles, and tools covering everything from navigating the foster care system to supporting children through trauma. Real information for real families—no jargon, no judgment.
Family Mentorship
We pair new foster and adoptive families with experienced mentors who've been through it. It's not counseling—it's a friend who gets it, someone to text at 2 a.m. when things feel impossible.
Volunteer Support
Community support for families comes in many forms. Volunteers show up with meal trains, event help, and everyday errands. Social workers and case managers share the on-the-ground insight that helps us respond to real needs. And local businesses contribute in-kind support — catering, photography, gift cards, and more — that families would never otherwise have access to.
We're growing. In the months ahead, we'll be expanding into support groups, workshops, and partnerships with local agencies. Stay connected to be the first to know.
